Shriveled Old Bastard (S.O.B)

Inspired by the Trinidad Sour, this cocktail is like that old uncle many of us have. Bitter, spicy and little sweet if you give him a chance. The ample Angostura, Coffee, lemon juice, and high proof Smith & Cross Rum is balanced by a Golden Raisin Spiced Syrup.

 ½ oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur
 ½ oz Jamaican Overproof Rum(Smith & Cross)
 ½ oz Angostura Bitters
 ¾ oz Lemon Juice
 1 oz Golden Raisin Spiced Syrup (Recipe below)

Add all ingredients in shaker.

Shake with ice.

Double strain into chilled coupe or Nick & Nora.

Golden Raisin Spiced Syrup

1cup Golden Raisins
1 Cinnamon Stick
1cup Water
1cup Cane Sugar
Additional water to dilute

In a saucepan add the raisins, cinnamon stick, and water. Simmer on low for 15-20 minutes. Add sugar and mix until dissolved. Let cool slightly and remove cinnamon stick. Add an additional 1/2 cup water and blend until smooth. Strain through fine mesh strainer. Add more water if too thick, should be similar consistency to homemade orgeat.
